SEO plugin does not render any output

Possibly I'm not testing this correctly, but when I add the SEO component to a page, it does not render any additional output. I would expect that when I enter a value for "default-meta-keywords" that would be rendered somewhere in the page's html output. When I add the component to the blog detail page and add "authornames" to the list for "document-title-bean-props" or "document-keywords-bean-props" or "document-description-bean-props" nothing gets rendered in the html output.
