Regression: Can't navigate away from page-new and page-properties subpages

    Description

      Probably since upgrading to Angular 1.6 this regression was introduced. It seems that a directive that registers a component-as '$ctrl' (the new default for components) no longer binds to that reference.

      Since we were already planning to upgrade the affected directives into components (CHANNELMGR-1884) we decided to fix it in that issue.
