Template Composer comments are not rendered when jsp generates pure whitespace

When a JSP renders pure whitespace, and the (jasper) runtime strips those (e.g. using the stripSpaces setting on the JspServlet), the tc comments are not rendered either.

The effect is that it is impossible to select the container item in the template composer.
