In the Template Composer, Surf & Edit is inaccessible when the document is in a containerItem

when viewing the site in the Template Compose, the surf & edit button highlights the documents and adds an Edit link. In the Template composer, when clicking on "Edit Content" on this page, the documents are highlighted. But the Composer overlay blocks the edit button to be clicked when the document is wrapped in a container item.
