Automatic creation of field name stops after inserting one character

In the compound form: create a new field. In the properties box, add a field name. Automatically, the field name is entered too. But only one character is placed there. Is this a bug? I guess the complete label needs to go there. The name should be valid for use in html, so no spaces etc.
