Twitter feed blocks homepage when there is no internet access

Async components was disabled.

Even after the UnknownHostException occurred (stacktrace attached), the page was not loaded for at least another 30 seconds.

When the page loaded the twitter feed was invisible (as expected).
The exception should be caught and handled
