banner carousel does not start spinning after adding & configuring

To reproduce:

• start a new project
• add the banners component
• rebuild
• add a carousel to the home page and configure the two sample banners

Expected: the carousel starts spinning after saving & closing the component property dialog
Actual: the carousel does not start spinning; after clicking on the "home" menu item, the carousel does start spinning

Another reproduction path is to edit an existing (spinning) carousel, change the configuration, save & close, and the carousel does not start spinning.

Tested using Chrome and Safari on MacOS.
