Document listing shows wrong publication date

Problem reported by jreijn. It appears that if other variants than the published variant contains a publication date, this date may be displayed in the document listing panel. However this publication date is not updated when a publication happens and so the wrong value is displayed. Only the publication date of the published variant must be displayed.
