Cannot deploy artifacts with sources without help

During the deployment of the 10.0 alpha artifacts, we noticed that mvn release:perform would attempt to deploy the sources JARs twice. Nexus disallows that by default, and the deployment stops prematurely. The work-around was to ask Infra to change the Nexus settings to temporarily allow redeployments on the target repository.
This means that without the help from Infra, R&D currently cannot deploy such artifacts autonomously, which I consider a serious problem.
