Opening new tab for cms/console with cms open makes first tab unresponsive

Using chrome new anonymous window
1) Open http://localhost:8080/cms and login. Notice warning [1]
2) Open new tab and go to http://localhost:8080/cms (no login)
3) Go back to the first tab
Expected: CMS still works
Actual: CMS no longer responses, nothing happens clicking on other perspective
Occasionally CMS session terminates and login page is shown.
Full browser-refresh needed to continue
