[BACKPORT] A faulty channel manager configuration prevents editing of documents

    Description

      The channel manager configuration should not influence the behavior of the editor. When the channel manager configuration is incorrect nothing happens when clicking a document for editing

      Also the error message is very unclear and hidden.
