Document type editor field properties refresh causes changes to be reverted

When editing a document type, add a new field.
Try to fill in the "Caption" and "Path" text boxes quickly, then check the "Required" and "Multiple" checkboxes.
Often when entering something in one text box, then clicking in the next, the properties component seems to be reloaded / refreshed, but only after you already typed something in the text box (or checked the check box). This results in your changes to be reverted to the default (e.g. "string" for the "Path" field).

This is extremely annoying and frustrating, and prevents users from working efficiently because they sometimes have to enter everything twice, or wait for a few seconds between entering values.
