Replace CompatibilityWorkflowPlugin or remove @deprecated

The CompatibilityWorkflowPlugin is deprecated according to the JavaDoc. However there is no replacement yet. Remove @deprecated until there is a replacement (and add a @see replacement). Several questions about the deprecation of this class have been asked on the mailing list.
