Support binary data in upgrade module

Binary data streams are currently not supported in updater modules. There does not seem to be an obvious reason for this, apart from uncontrolled memory usage.

Iterating over lots of binaries will put a significant burden on the garbage collector, so it will be wise to use a smaller batch size when running update modules that touch binary data.
