Folder menu popup does not show properly in IE8

In IE8, the dropdown on a folder (with actions like "Create folder" etc) disappears when hovering with the mouse over the place where the dropdown should be. Instead of the dropdown, the mouse cursor changes into a resize pointer. See image that is attached to the linked project issue.
