Because of previous comment not linux related, even though behaviour may differ on the platforms.
May be resolved by having available a mirror capable also of caching negative results. The mirror MUST however be transparent, working outside of the hippo domain without access to the mirror should, in all instances, still produce identical dependencies.
Bart lookup up a possible (JCR based!) maven2 mirror suite. If having the maven2 issue indeed fixes this issue, the assignment to Bart is correct and he may put this in place. Otherwise the issue should be reassigned to the same developer having issue CMS7-200 and the issues should be linked.
