Console crashing from bitIndex Error

A client reported an error in the console which stopped the console on the corresponding server. Only a restart of the server could fix it. 

Are there any ways to find out and fix the issue? The assumption is that the repository is getting corrupted but not sure from what, another ticket CMS-15812 is created for improving the loggings.
