Description
According to this thread on the apache forum there are no plans for releasing a new release of this library that supports jakarta EE due to low adoption. Some suggest that the project should be retired.
We need to find places where "tomcat-taglibs-standard" is being used and remove it or find replacements for it.
As far as I can see, I only see occurrences of taglibs usages in some JSP files in two places:
- Internal/qa-testsuite
- community/testsuite
We need to know why do we have jsp there? who needs it? and if we can get rid of it completely.
UPDATE:
one alternative we could look into is Jakarta Standard Tag Library 3.0. This is a newer API that has one GlassFish Implementation.
This is the only one reference I could find about this migration: https://stackoverflow.com/a/4928309
