Unable to differentiate between 'published' & 'restored unpublished' versions

The document revision history dialog indicates that a new version is created when a document is published. But a new version is also created when a document is restored. This new version is an unpublished version and there is no way to differentiate this from a published version in both the CMS and version storage. How do we differentiate this 'restored unpublished version' from a 'published version', both in the UI and version storage?
