Investigate if page cache can be stored in compressed format

reported by a client which has quite big JSON (SPA) responses ranging from 1M up to 2MB.
Page cache gets filled up very quickly, especially in cases when they send out a newsletter with some variable parameters (this part is solved by them on application level).
Interesting idea was to check if these responses can be stored as compressed, but I am not sure if ehcache has any support of this and other possible complications
