Description
I was wondering which version of a document was going to be rendered on the Channel Manager when it's prepared for a specific project and we don't have a version of the document for this project.
I wanted to check if it showed the live version or the unpublished one.
However, I found an inconsistency following these steps:
1. Create a project from the archetype and install Convert to enterprise project, projects, Essentials Site Skeleton, and Banners.
2. Add a banner component to the homepage and select one of the existing banners. Let's call it Version A (live - core).
Check that on the Channel manager Version A is displayed.
3. Modify the document and save it (don't publish it). Let's call it Version B (unpublished - core).
Check that on the Channel Manager Version B is displayed.
4. Create a project and add it to the channel.
Check that on the Channel Manager Version B is displayed for the core project while Version A is displayed for the new project.
5. Create a variant of the document for the project, save it. Version C (unpublished - project).
Check that on the Channel Manager Version B is displayed for the core project while Version C is displayed for the new project.
6. Remove the variant of the project:
Current behavior: Version B is displayed for the core project and also Version B is displayed for the new project.
Basically: after step 4, having only live and preview versions of a document I get the live version when visualizing the Channel Manager in the context of a project.
After step 6, having only live and preview versions of the document as well, I get the preview version when visualizing the Channel Manager in the context of a project.
