Deactivate a page without deleting it

From client feedback:

Is there a way to delete a page from CMS, without completely deleting it? There is no 'take offline' or equivalent button (as on documents), so the only way I can see to take a page offline is to delete it. However we'd still like to keep a record of the page inside CMS, so it's a suboptimal option.

Perhaps we could add possibility to remove just the site map item that references the page, when in the Channel Manager.
