Create content: document created in incorrect state

Reproduction path:

• use a 13.0.0-SNAPSHOT archetype
• install the Events feature
• use the + button on the events page in the channel manager to create a new document
• in create content step 2 do not touch any field but immediately click Save

Result: the document is saved, but only a draft variant node is available under the handle. This document cannot be published.

Expected: there is also an unpublished variant node, and the document can be published.

Note that when you enter a value in a one field before saving, the created document is OK.
