Sanitize initialization of a channel

    Description

      The current logic around initializing a channel is VERY complex. It involves multiple REST calls to create a preview channel, setup Projects-specific logic (including manipulation of the channel ID), reload the current channel one of more times, setup the state of several shared services etc. This should all be simplified.
