Convert documentation to AsciiDoc

AsciiDoc is a more powerful markup format than Markdown. And it supports inline diagrams in a variety of diagram markup languages, which simplifies the source and allows a preview of the edited source including diagrams inside IntelliJ (using the AsciiDoc plugin).
