Missing consistency between plugins

There is no consistency in the adding of features/plugins. For example I added the events and video plugin.
For the events no additional configuration/setup is needed.
For video there is: I need to drag this component to the template and configure it by picking a sample document.

Why don't we treat these plugins similar? So in case of events:
1) add the events plugin using Essentials
2) Use the menu/page editor to create a new menu item and page
3) add drag the Events List plugin to the template.
