Improve ui feedback when document can't be saved through the editor

Created a new document. Filled in some fields. Used the gallerypicker plugin and once I was done I pressed save. In the interface nothing happens. The save action looks to be done in under a second, but the server log actually shows the stacktrace (see attached file). It would be nice if the user would get an actual feedback message if saving the document does not succeed succesfully.
