Convoluted logic in Plugin update mechanism

If the EditorPlugin is removed from the plugin configuration the MenuPlugin quits synchronizing (ie. the 'breadcrumb' doesn't show the path to the currently selected node)
This means that updating the Editor plugin influences the updating of other plugins.

Plugins should be completely independent of each other.
