Removing fields in document type editor is not saved in the node type definition

I've copied a document type under "onehippo:jobopening". Two fields were removed (banner and bannerLink). When hitting "Update content", in the INFO logging these two field still appear. Also, the fields are present under /jcr:system/jcr:nodeTypes/onehippo:jobopening.

Note: adding documents of such type works fine, banner(link) fields are not visible.
